My Family

I have the best family ever. My husband and I were married in August, 2005. He is my best friend and partner. He works for a local cabinet company as a sales person. He also helps out on his family farm. (He is working towards taking over for his dad.) Like most men, he is passionate about most sports. This last summer, he taught our oldest son, Brodie, how to ride a dirt bike. He is a wonderful father to our children who adore him.

My oldest is Brodie. He was born February, 2006. He is always into something and keeps me on my toes. He loves anything to do with trains, sports and SpongeBob. He started Pre-K this year and loves it. He takes great care of his little sister, and is always willing to help.

Kira, my youngest, is usually found in a dress up with a pound of lip gloss on her face/body. She goes 100 miles a minute, all day, every day. She loves to draw “people” and is becoming a great artist. She has started Pre-School this year, and has been nervous at first. Luckily Brodie is there to protect and encourage her.

I would have never called myself “crafty”. I grew up in Alaska with 3 sisters, and the best parents a girl could ask for. My mom was always crafting, and I think it finally rubbed off when I started a family of my own. I took my first sewing lesson when I was about 10 (I recently found my teacher on facebook. How exciting) My Aunt was an amazing seamstress who had a TON of scrap fabric. I would have sleep over’s with my cousins, and we would sew until we were told to get in bed. We made our first dress together, on a sewing form, and no pattern. We took turns wearing it to church, so we could share our creation. Later, we moved to Colorado where I have settled into my wonderful life. My parents bought me my own sewing machine the Christmas after graduation, and there was no turning back. (I think I have made over 50 blankets and curtains.)

For Christmas a few years ago, I decided to make everyone in our family pajama pants. 23 pairs of PJ’s later, I mastered the pants pattern. From then on, I have sewn almost every day. I know how to read patterns, but my true passion is creating. The first few dresses I made were awful. I didn’t have a serger, and I never changed my thread. I would just sew, and sew until I ran out of thread.

I have now changed my ways, and my sewing habits. My husband bought me a serger for mother’s day, and I have upgraded all my machines. I love creating my own patterns, and passing the talent onto others. My older sister has helped me get my blog set up, and takes most of the pictures of my dresses that I sell.

I hope you enjoy my blog, sharing my family, and sharing your ideas and comments with me.
