Princess and the Frog: Part 2

THE DRESS IS DONE!!! After 2 weeks of sewing, and trying to figure out how I wanted this dress to look, I’m done! Whoot whoot! The dress looks amazing. I had to make it into 2 separate pieces, so that the “lily” lays flat. Kira was kind enough to let me borrow her coloring book for a reference guide. Now I will have to make her one…

(Both of the dresses are about 3/4 sizes to big for Kira, but you get the idea...)

Princess and the Frog

Another friend just called and asked if I could make her 2 little girls dress ups for their birthday party. The first dress will be a Cinderella dress (one of my favorite Disney Princesses) and the next dress will be a Princess and the Frog. I have looked for a few patterns at the store for the PATF (Princess and the Frog) dress, and there is not anything out there. I will be making my own pattern for the dress. Wish me luck…

Craigslist Score

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Craigslist! I am always searching through the “free” section and the “arts and crafts”. The other day, I hit the mother lode. There was a listing for miscellaneous fabric. I looked at the ad a few times, but never contacted the seller. 3 or 4 days later, the listing was still there, so I emailed and asked if it is still available. IT WAS!!! I ended up with 16, 25 gallon totes of fabric. Some of it is very retro, but overall, it was a score. I now have a stock pile of fabric, and the possibilities are endless!

Quilting

I just don’t know how they do it! I have never fully understood why you would cut a large piece of fabric into little pieces, and then sew it back together. I decided I would give it a try with some old pants that no longer fit. It took me over a year to get all the pieces sewn together. It was the very definition of “a work in progress”. The quilt is on my son’s bed now, and he says that he loves it. (He also has never seen another quilt) So for the time being, that project is crossed off my list, and I seem to be onto bigger and better things.
